Breadshare is a not-for-profit community supported bakery in the Scottish Borders (www.breadshare.co.uk).
Today the bakery is playing host to 20 Beaver Scouts who will be learning how to make their own bread rolls to have with their BBQ lunch at Whitmuir Farm. The scouts will take home a Farefood pack to make their very own White Loaf, Wholemeal Loaf and Bread Rolls.
Fare provides pre-packed ingredients for customers to make their own meals at home using fresh, local and organic produce. Our goal is to help people be aware of the ecological impact of their eating habits while also improving the quality of the food they eat through re-discovering the joy of cooking for themselves.
We are also concerned with the amount of waste associated with packaging in the modern food industry. Our aim is to decrease packaging waste through using biodegradable and compostable packaging, and to reduce food waste through providing only the right amount of ingredients needed for each recipe.
Fare was established in 2011 and commences operations in Peeblesshire in the Scottish Borders in partnership with Whitmuir Organic Farm as an important supplier of fresh, organic ingredients.
We have worked together both personally and professionally, raising three children and running a successful IT business.
Our shared values centre around the fair distribution of limited resources globally.
